He was a graduate of Penn High School, class of 1978. On September 5, 1981, he married Catherine Blair in Elkhart, Indiana.
Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Catherine DeVreese and their children Justin (Paige) DeVreese and Sr. Regina DeVreese, O.S.F., both of Mishawaka. Tim is also survived by his mother Mary Lou (Baker) Jeske of Elkhart, one sister, and his grandchildren Isabelle Santa, Adelaide DeVreese, and Noah DeVreese. Surviving as well are his three best friends, Bob Wordinger, Rob Arnold, and Ray Crawford. His father, George J. DeVreese preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Tim will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens following his funeral service. Goethals and Wells Funeral Home of Mishawaka has been entrusted with his care.
Following graduation, Tim became certified as a Master Plumber and worked as an independent contractor throughout the Michiana area until his retirement at the age of 55. His skills in the Plumbing and HVAC industry were unmatched. Tim often joked with his family and friends that he could “plumb a skyscraper” and he earned the trust of numerous new home construction contractors who knew when they contracted “Tim DeVreese Plumbing” that the job would be done properly and on time.
In his younger years, Tim enjoyed riding dirt bikes and when his children were born, he traded his dirt bikes in on a mountain bike and loved taking his family on long bicycle rides around the city. He was also an avid collector of firearms and was skilled both as a gunsmith and a marksman. He loved to remain active, playing tennis, running and swimming. Tim also enjoyed watching stand-up comedy concerts both in person and on video, and his quick wit and “dry” sense of humor will never be forgotten by his family and friends.
