Tom F. Mahs, 96 of Mishawaka, IN died at Memorial Hospital on September 26, 2017 with his family at his side.  He was born in Garrett, IN to Theodore F. and Veva (Fuller) Mahs.

Tom served his country during World War II in the US Army’s 75th and 83rd Infantry Divisions and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Nina E. (Jones) in Ann Arbor, MI in June 1946 and spent much of his life there. Tom belonged to the American Legion Post in Ann Arbor and was a member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). He moved to Mishawaka, IN in 2004 to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife Nina and his brother, Robert L. Mahs.

Tom is survived by his two daughters, JoEllen Mahs of Kernersville, NC and Judith C. Marley of Mishawaka, IN, three grandchildren, Jennifer (Aaron) Lechtanski of Mishawaka, IN, Scott (Catherine) Marley of Baton Rouge, LA, Sarah Marley of Chicago, IL, and two great-grandsons: Andrew Lechtanski and Joshua Marley-Deibel.

Tom will be laid to rest next to his wife at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor at 12 noon on October 3rd.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Food Gatherers (foodgatherers.org), a local food bank, in his memory.

Arrangements are under the care of Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
