Vera Belle (Stone) Andrews, 92, passed away quietly October 23, 2021, at her Mishawaka home.

Vera was born October 14, 1929, in Mishawaka, IN to Raymond O. and Ruby Pauline (Alexander) Stone. She lived in Kentucky and Indiana all her life attending 11 public schools in 12 years. Her family settled again in Mishawaka, and she graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1947. She married William Henry Andrews of Bloomfield, IN on December 19, 1947.

Vera’s career began in the offices of Ball-Band Uniroyal in Mishawaka. Vera and Bill moved to Osceola, raising four sons, and owning/operating the Motor Haven Motel for 22 years. Vera was most proud of being a self-taught family historian. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (Wm. Tuffs DAR Chapter, Elkhart), Mothers of Foreign Wars and author of two genealogy books Alexanders of Cannon County in 1989 and Stones of N.W. Kentucky. She was also an avid Ancestry.com contributor until her eyesight made it difficult to see the computer screen. She also loved making kieflies for Christmas, oil painting and country music.

Vera was preceded in death by her beloved son Raymond E. Andrews of Granger, sister Thelma (Maxine) Rynearson, brothers Theodore (Ted) Stone, Joseph Stone and Doris Stone and grandchild Philip H. Andrews.

Vera is survived by her loving husband of 73 years Bill, sister Ruth Ann (Carl) Murphy and brother Ken R. (Sue) Stone, sister-in-law Sherrilyn Stone and brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Rynearson. Vera was loved and survived by her sons Gerald D. (Darlene) Andrews, Keith A. (Katrina) Andrews, Brian S. (Stacey) Andrews and daughter-in-law Nancy Andrews. She was proud of her grandchildren Michael (Lisa) Andrews, Christopher (Mindy) Andrews, Kelly (Kate) Andrews, Timothy (Ashley) Andrews, Rachael Andrews, Daniel Andrews, Jonathan (Virginia) Cernak, Nicholas (Cara) Cernak, Shawn Calhoun and Mark (Alisa) Calhoun, 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 29, in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with her nephew, Pastor Darron Murphy officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

Visitation will be from 4 – 7 pm on Thursday in the funeral home.
