Virginia M. Hazinski, 95, was called to her eternal home on Monday, July 3rd, 2023. She most recently was a resident at  the Providence Home in Mishawaka. Her final days were spent surrounded by family, in prayer, and her final hours in the superb hands of the Center for Hospice, Ernestine M. Raclin House, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN. The family is forever grateful to the staffs of Providence Home and the Center for Hospice for their compassionate and competent care.

Virginia was born June 20, 1928, the second of five children, to the late George J. and Marie E. (Schnellbach) Arndt and was a lifelong resident of Mishawaka and member of St. Joseph Parish. She is a graduate of St. Joseph grade school and Mishawaka High School Class of 1946 and attended Davenport College.

As Virginia Marie Arndt, she married the love of her life, Eugene Hazinski, on October 13, 1951, in St. Joseph Church. They made Mishawaka their home, and enjoyed 53 years of marriage, until Eugene's death on December 21, 2004. She was also preceded in death by son Robert Eugene Hazinski on March 12, 2013, and her three brothers, Edward J. (Germaine), George F., and Lawrence J. (Sylvia) Arndt. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Victoria H. Geschke (Stephen) of Mishawaka, their children Madeline G. of Indianapolis and Christian E. of Mishawaka; her son, Thomas A. (Leslie) Hazinski of Beach Park, IL and their children, Colette M., Meredith C., Anthony J., Richard J., Stephen A., and Paul T. Hazinski, all of Beach Park; daughter-in-law Trena S. Hazinski of South Bend; Robert's daughters Misty M. Hazinski of South Bend and Amanda M. Hazinski of Elkhart; two great grandchildren, Kylie M. and Kolton T. of South Bend, her sister, Rosemary A. (Edward) Dlugosz of Mishawaka; and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia's Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She was a member of the Rosary Society, Young-At-Heart, the National Catholic Society of Foresters, The Daughters of Isabella, Michiana Music for LIFE Organ Club, Harvest House, and the Mishawaka High School Alumni Association. She also served her church as a cleaner and collection counter and made Baptismal bibs and Prayer blankets. She was a Den Mother and volunteer at the St. Joseph School Library, and a former member of the Hit's N Misses and the Mishawaka Ladies Wednesday Morning Golf Leagues, sharing a love of the game with her beloved husband. She felt that if you belonged to an organization, you should take an active part, and she held an office in the organizations with which she affiliated, usually taking on the role of treasurer. She never said "no" when asked to lend a helping hand.

After 38 years of service, Virginia retired from the former Uniroyal, Inc. as an Executive Secretary in the Accounting Department, and she subsequently served as an Office Manager with Unity Church of Peace for two years. After she & Eugene retired, they enjoyed travels to Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska, as well as time on the golf course and with family and friends, particularly the light of their lives, their grandchildren. Virginia also enjoyed knitting, reading, gardening, and was an excellent baker.
