Bill attended St. Bavo School and graduated from Mishawaka High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and while in the Baltimore, Maryland, area he met Rosalie Doyle and they were married on June 1, 1951. After his discharge they came to the South Bend / Mishawaka area where they raised their children. Bill went to work at the Post Office where he held just about every job except mail carrier. In the 1970’s he became Postmaster in Granger and then was Postmaster in Nappanee until retiring in 1987.
Bill’s friends and family knew him to be a very kind, generous man who loved his family dearly. If you were in trouble, he would be the first to offer help. Bill loved cooking, Notre Dame Football, golfing and working in his yard. For fifty years he was a volunteer with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. While living in Nappanee he was a member of the Lions Club. When Bill retired they moved back to this area and he was one of the first volunteers to help open the Homeless Shelter in downtown South Bend after the old Morningside Hotel burned. Bill was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill’s family would like to thank the staff at Michiana Health and Rehabilitation who became like a second family to the Siri’s. Special thanks also to Harbor Light Hospice who have seen the family through their worst days.

In this world that we know now life is here then gone. Somewhere in the afterlife love lives on and on. Dreams of long ago meet in rendezvous. Shadows of the night calling me to you.
