William Thomas Scott Southwick, 70, of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, October 6, 2015, in the home he loved.

“Bill” was born June 8, 1945 in Jackson, Michigan, a son of the late Alva Franklin and Dorothea (Caird) Southwick. He was a graduate of Jackson High School. Bill lived in Jackson until moving to Okemos, Michigan, in 1980. In 1982 he moved to the Michiana area, first living in Granger and later in Mishawaka.

Bill’s career was in the wholesale sporting goods industry. He was a salesman for Bob Erath Company and later became an owner of the company. He formed his own business named Warehouse Sports which he operated for many years. Bill loved his work and the best description he said of his occupation was he was a “purveyor of sporting goods.”

At one time Bill enjoyed collectable cars. He loved caring for his home and yard.

Bill's surviving family includes his life partner, Marianne (Burns) Parker; a son, Christopher “Sam” (Kerri) Southwick of Rockford, Michigan; a brother, Timothy (Nancy) Southwick of Commerce Township, Michigan; a sister, Bonnie (Russ) Stricker of Jasper, Georgia; and three grandchildren, Tyler Hinkle, Madelynn Southwick and Jackson Southwick.

Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Elena Hinkle, in 2013.

Services honoring Bill’s life will be held Saturday, October 10, at 1 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Chaplain Trevor Foley officiating.

Bill’s family will receive friends Saturday, October 10, from 12 noon - 1 pm in the funeral home.
