William Everett “Bill” Gunnett, age 48, passed away at his home in Mishawaka with his loving family by his side following a hard fought, 4-year battle with Pancreatic cancer.  Bill was born September 1, 1974, in Mishawaka, Indiana to Ralph and Sherry Gunnett. He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, class of 1993. On May 19, 2007, he married Leahann Irvin.  They recently celebrated 16 years of marriage.

Leahann survives, along with his son Devin Gunnett of South Bend and their daughter Kaitlyn Gunnett of Mishawaka.  Devin and Kaitlyn were the light of Bill’s life and his pride and joy.  He was extremely proud of both of them and loved spending time with them and supporting them in all of their events and activities.

Surviving as well is his mother, Sherry (Mitch) Reeves of Osceola his brother Dave Gunnett of South Bend, and his sister Tracy (Nolan) Reed of Augusta, Georgia.  His father, Ralph Gunnett preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 pm Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home (formerly Goethals and Wells) in Mishawaka with funeral services to follow at 5:00pm.  Pastor Jeff Little of the Southside General Baptist Church will preside. Bill will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.

He was employed for many years in the HVAC and RV industries where he took pride in his meticulous skills as a buffer and final finisher to produce quality products for Precision Paint in Bremen, Indiana.

As a young boy, Bill was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and was fondly known as the “Atari Champion of the family.”  He also loved a well fought game of Monopoly. As an adult, he found a love for NASCAR and was a fan of both Jeff Burton and Kevin Harvick, attending numerous races to watch them run. Bill also loved the Green Bay Packers and passed his love of the team to his children. The open road called to Bill, and he enjoyed spending time riding his Harley Davidson Road King with his wife and many friends he met through his love for motorcycling.

He was a talented artist and loved to paint and draw and also used his artistic abilities to create custom paint jobs for cars and motorcycles.  He was also very handy around the house and could fix almost anything.

Most of all, Bill will be remembered for his great sense of humor and positive attitude, even throughout his lengthy illness.  His love for his family and generosity to others will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
